Abu Bakr The Truthful
اک دن رسُولِ پاکؐ نے اصحابؓ سے کہا
One day the Holy Prophet said to his Companions,
دیں مال راہِ حق میں جو ہوں تم میں مالدار
‘The rich among you should give in the way of God’.
ارشاد سُن کے فرطِ طرب سے عمَرؓ اُٹھے
On hearing that command, an overjoyed ‘Umar stood up;
اُس روز اُن کے پاس تھے درہم کئی ہزار
That day he had thousands of dirhams.
دل میں یہ کہہ رہے تھے کہ صِدّیقؓ سے ضرور
Today, for sure, he said in his heart,
بڑھ کر رکھے گا آج قدم میرا راہوار
My horse will take the lead from Abu Bakr’s.
لائے غَرضکہ مال رُسولِ امیںؐ کے پاس
So he brought his wealth to the Trustworthy Prophet—
ایثار کی ہے دست نِگر ابتدائے کار
Sacrifice is needed to start a project off.
پُوچھا حضور سروَرِ عالمؐ نے، اے عمَرؓ!
‘Umar’, asked the Prophet, the Sovereign of the world,
اے وہ کہ جوشِ حق سے ترے دل کو ہے قرار
‘A passion for truth is the sole comfort of your heart.
رَکھّا ہے کچھ عیال کی خاطر بھی تُو نے کیا؟
Did you keep anything back for your family?—
مسلم ہے اپنے خویش و اقارب کا حق گزار
For a Muslim must honour the duty he bears to his relations.’
کی عرض نصف مال ہے فرزند و زن کا حق
‘Half’, he said, ‘belongs to wife and children,
باقی جو ہے وہ ملّتِ بیضا پہ ہے نثار
The rest I offer to the Community of Light.’
اتنے میں وہ رفیقِ نبوّت بھی آگیا
In the meantime that Companion of the Prophet arrived
جس سے بِنائے عشق و محبّت ہے اُستوار
Who gives strength to the edifice of love and devotion.
لے آیا اپنے ساتھ وہ مردِ وفا سرِشت
No man more loyal, he brought with him
ہر چیز، جس سے چشمِ جہاں میں ہو اعتبار
Everything with value in the eyes of the world:
مِلکِ یمین و درہم و دینار و رخت و جِنس
Slaves, money, goods and chattels.
اسپِ قمر سم و شُتر و قاطر و حمار
He brought his horses, their hooves shining like the moon, and his camels, mules and asses.
بولے حضورؐ، چاہیے فکرِ عیال بھی
The Prophet said, ‘It is necessary to think of one’s family too!’
کہنے لگا وہ عشق و محبّت کا راز دار
That man, who knew the secrets of love, said,
اے تجھ سے دیدۂ مہ و انجم فروغ گیر!
‘You are the one from whom the moon and stars receive the brightness of their eyes;
اے تیری ذات باعثِ تکوینِ روزگار!
And you are the one for whose sake the universe was brought into being:
پروانے کو چراغ ہے، بُلبل کو پھُول بس
The lamp is enough for the moth, the flower is enough for the nightingale—
صِدّیقؓ کے لیے ہے خدا کا رسولؐ بس
For Abu Bakr the Prophet of God is enough’.صِدّیقؓ
